the setup
you’ll find an anza r2 espresso machine and a fellow opus grinder on the counter. both are ready to use — designed for calm, simple mornings at hinterhouse.
more of a visual learner? here are some videos from the anza team.
1.prepare the machine
make sure the water tank (at the back) is filled with fresh, filtered water.
turn the machine on. it takes about 10 minutes to fully warm up — use that time to grind your beans.
when the light turns solid, it’s ready.
2.grind your coffee
place the metal grind container under the grinder chute.
add enough beans to lightly cover the bottom — about two tablespoons.
grind on a fine setting.
spoon the grounds into the portafilter until it’s just below the rim, then tamp evenly with gentle pressure.
3.pull your shot
lock the portafilter into the machine.
place your cup under the spout.
press the single or double button.
the shot should run for about 25–30 seconds — smooth and rich.
4.steam milk (optional)
press the steam button and wait until the light indicates ready.
purge the wand (a quick burst of steam).
froth your milk until warm and velvety.
wipe the wand and purge again.
pour slowly. breathe. enjoy.
5.aftercare
knock out the used coffee puck and rinse the portafilter.
wipe the group head and steam wand.
empty the drip tray if needed.
please use filtered water only — it keeps the machine happy.
leave everything clean and dry for the next guest.
