brundage mountain gets some of the deepest, driest powder in the country, while jug mountain ranch keeps things quiet with miles of groomed nordic trails winding through ponderosa pine. in summer the same trails open up for hiking and biking, climbing toward ridgelines that look down over payette lake. and the lakes themselves are the real draw: payette, upper payette, cascade — each one built for a different mood, whether that's a july swim or a still morning ice fishing.
